Land as gift - Quiet Day - led by Revd Canon Professor John Rodwell

  • Whalley Abbey The Sands Clitheroe, England, BB7 United Kingdom (map)

Land as gift, as promise, as partnership

On the eve of Plough Sunday, this quiet day will draw on the rich heritage of scripture and devotional writings to explore why and how we should celebrate God’s gift of land; how he reveals himself in particular places where we might make our home with him; and how we might renew a covenant with land, both on our own particular plots and in the wider landscape where other taskmasters turn land into a commodity.

The day is led by the Revd Canon Professor John Rodwell, our Diocesan Environment Officer.

John has been priest and ecologist together for over 40 years, exploring the fabric of the natural world. Through teaching and research he has imparted skills and enthusiasm to hundreds of young scientists and helps protect wildlife and habitats across Europe. In preaching, writing and retreats he explores the richness and challenge of God’s generosity in Creation.
