Young Adults’ Weekend
This event is for anyone interested in ecumenism, solidarity within the human family and sharing our stories. It will be of particular interest for those who have been to Taizé over the year or taken part in the Taizé European meeting in Tallinn, Estonia, over New Year. There will be prayers with songs from Taizé, a chance to walk up Whalley Nab, good food and board games. On Sunday we’ll take part in worship in a parish and afterwards hear about examples where faith is lived out in action.
The programme at Whalley Abbey revolves around four daily prayers in the chapel with the resident community. The impressive Great Hall and the comfy Lounge are our larger meeting rooms, and in addition we have a little Library and another small Lounge for sitting in. The en-suite bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and desks and chairs, as well as very comfortable beds. There are beautiful gardens and woodland set around the ancient ruins of the Abbey, and the whole place is seeped in history. Anna and Andy Walker are part of the management team at Whalley Abbey and were formed through wonderful weekend meetings just like this one when they were young.
